“If he could just know what he does to me. What he probably does to thousands of fans, but I can only tell it from how I personally feel. Just seeing him on a screen makes me want to be with him, tell him all he’s done for me. I’ve always liked music, sure, but I don’t think I felt passionate about it, heck, I didn’t feel passionate about ANYTHING, until him. The anger in his music calms me down. Listening to him is a way for ME not to lose MY temper. Everything he says is so real and true, and has been exactly how he told it. His funny songs, I mean, sometime’s I’ll just start laughing and people don’t know why, it’s his punchlines and jokes and metaphors it takes ages to understand, but once you do, you split your sides laughing. It’s his attitude, the ‘I don’t give a fuck’ way he has of doing things, but there’s two thing he does give a fuck about. His music, and his daughters. That’s another thing. He is the most fantastic father. He and Kim have obviously had their extreme ups and downs, but he has ALWAYS been there for his girls. I just wish I could have a father as dedicated as that. He overcame addiction. Yeah, it got pretty bad, but he was strong enough to say ‘ok, I need help now, I can’t do this on my own’ He detoxed, and got clean, and stayed clean. That’s something so many people can’t do. He lost his best friend. And he undoubtedly misses Proof every day, but he still manages to have fun. I know it took a long time after Proof’s death for him to get to where he’s at, but now he’s at the top of his game. And Proof would have wanted that. He’s the boy who came from nothing, and the man who got everything he ever wanted. And hated some of it. But he embraced it head on, with strength and dedication. He didn’t get his fame and fortune by ‘luck’. Obviously there was a lucky element in there, but he worked damn hard and possessed a lot of skill. So many times he nearly gave up, but he kept going. He is an inspiration to me. Listening to him, is like nothing I have ever experienced before. I wish I could tell him that. I hope one day I will.”—(via decision-thats-life-altering)
(I’m a cashier at a newly opened gas station. It is the first of its chain in the area. As such, many of the customers are asking questions about the store. Since we’re new, I’m trying my best to be extra friendly and helpful to everyone. An old woman approaches me with several items. She looks rather concerned.)
Customer:“So…are you a gas station or a grocery store?”
Me:“Both, ma’am. We’re all about convenience.”
Customer:“And what sorts of customers come here?”
Me:“Well, we’ve just opened, ma’am, so its hard to say at this point.”
Customer:“I don’t want to shop at a store for God-hating homosexuals.”
Customer:“You heard me!”
(I do my best to maintain a neutral stance and begin scanning her items as quickly as possible.)
Me:“Ma’am, by policy we can’t turn away customers.”
(She gives me a strange look and her eyes widen.)
Customer:“You’re one of them aren’t you!?”
Customer:“You’re a f*****!”
Me:“I’m not, actually, but it is my job to serve any customer that comes to my register.”
Customer:“I will never come here again! May God have mercy on your sinful soul!”
(I stand there for a few moments absolutely dumbstruck. Meanwhile, two older gentlemen in matching lavender shirts come up to my register and drop a $50 bill in my tip jar while only purchasing a single gallon of milk. One of them grins and looks me in the eye.)
Older gentleman:“Doesn’t matter if you’re on ‘our team’ or not. We’re coming here every day from now on.”
Hi, my name is Cara and I’m a 21 year old woman. Every 28 days, give or take, I have a period. And it fucking sucks. Today, was one of those where I take from the 28 day cycle. I wasn’t due for another period for at least a week, but considering that…
“It’s not about pitting women versus men, or men against women.
It’s about criticizing the society that makes us compete with each other.
It’s about breaking this stupid ideal of being separate beings.”—Me, dammit (on explaining feminism and gender equality)
This song has randomly gotten pretty well known thanks to Pandora (still only “underground hip-hop” famous though). Regardless, this is a true classic of classics. One Be Lo sure can rock a track. Each lyric he spits is incredibly well constructed and oozes vivid imagery and ideas.
“Binary Star, superstar its no coincidence Every verse is intricate, this ain’t a circus in a tent”
“Fortunately my music is never watery That’s how its gotta be, as far as I can see Maybe you should grab a telescope to see my view its like astronomy It ain’t all about economy so the fact that these wack emcees is making G’s don’t bother me Honestly, my number one policy is quality never sell my soul is my philosophy High velocity, lyrics like Nastradamus make a prophecy”
In a significant decision, the Punjab and Haryana High Court last week ruled that the right to abort a pregnancy in a marriage rests with the wife and not husband.
“A woman is not a machine in which raw material is put and a finished product comes out. She should be mentally prepared to conceive, continue the same and give birth to a child. The unwanted pregnancy would naturally affect the mental health of the pregnant woman…” said the court.
Stressing that marital intimacy between a couple does not automatically translate to the woman’s consent to child bearing, Justice Jitendra Chauhan said, “Mere consent to conjugal rights does not mean consent to give birth to a child for her husband.” Welcoming the judgement, Jagmati Sanwan, All India Democratic Women’s Association national vice-president said, “If the family conditions are unsuitable, no woman would like to give birth to a child because after all, she is the one who takes care of the children for all practical purposes. We see around us that fathers often desert their families after a couple of deliveries. But children become a part and parcel of the mother’s physical and emotional world. She invests much into their well being and she alone suffers. Hence, the rights of whether to give birth or not, should be with her.”
